A new Tanytarsus species (Insecta, Diptera, Chironomidae) from São Paulo State, Brazil

Tanytarsus obiriciae, spec. nov., a new Tanytarsini from the Neotropics is described based on male and female adults, larvae and pupae. The larvae were found living associated with aquatic macrophytes in ponds and lakes from the Northern Region of São Paulo State, Brazil. Information on larval abundance dynamics and the adults' emergence periods is presented.Published
